Ghost Walk 2014!

The "Ghost Walk" , one of my favorite things to do in the fall....The weather was good..no rain, but cloudy...which makes for a scary "Ghost Walk"......
We started our tour at Bernie & Max Stained Glass....

While we were waiting for our tour to start, we were looking around at the buildings and noticed
in the window across the street.......

A Man in the window!

Was this a ghost or......

We knew then that that was our next stop.....

Our pretty spirit guide, told us the story of this building and the  legacy of the Odd Fellows Lodge....

I had never noticed this building before except for the street level....I now knew the letters on the building stood for 'International Order of the Odd Fellows"

I have to admit when looking at this....I thought it was 100F...LOL   So glad I know the meaning and history.....

Climbing up these stairs to the next floor...this picture seemed a bit blurry in places...Was this the spirits playing with me....?????

Getting to the top of the stairs, it was like we had reached a point where time has stood still.

There were signs of maybe people had been there just yesterday but yet if you looked closer...it was like they had left one day and never returned!
We were taken into a room where artifacts were laid on a table......

Ledgers and other things from a time long passed.....but these masks were very scary.

What were they used for?  Who wore them?

Look closely at this one...it has blue eyes!
The other one looks like it is made of leather.......gave me the chills!

We found this in a small room, still marked with dates from the 1920's

Look at this closet very carefully.............

Now look at the trap door that has stairs leading to where?  Remember we are on the second floor right now....I must have missed out spirit guide tell where they lead but I have been wondering about it

Now up to the third floor we go......will we see any ghosts?

We entered this large room with these great windows!

At the end of the room..stood this Canopy....It looked like it has just been used...It didn't look old or dust...but fresh and new....maybe the ghosts took care of it.......

Our Spirit Guide took us around showing and telling us about what went on.....

This one on left was an interviewing room...

Row of closets where they hung their coats and costumes for their meeting.
This little room was so neat!

All these wonderful cabinets and the table to the left...

Out next stop was Bub's Time Out....the building we had seen the "Ghost" or Man in the window....I have never been in this building so was looking forward to it...but while waiting in line I noticed that people went in ...but no one came out except the Spirit Guide!    That made me a bit nervous......

Our charming "Spirit Guide" told us some history and sent us upstairs....

This building had been a clothing store once...and this is a great view of the skylight that once was there....it has since be sealed off....

Looking down to the first floor...

Our Spirit Guide told of fashion and other things of the past.....

Then she pointed to a door we hadn't noticed and said we were to go there .......

 We came up the stairs.....

Into this room that was very spooky....the only light was from the windows....

I noticed this right away....with a trap door ..to lift bundles from below.....

Our Spirit Guide took us on a tour of the walls in this room after cautioning us about where to walk and where not to.....Was he really our Spirit Guide or the Ghost in the window!!!!?????

The walls had writings on them from people from 1866 to present day....

This one mentions the Barnum, Bailey and that was when the elephant walked the high wire...??
or was it all an illusion.......

The spirit guide pointed out the newest inscription on the walls.......

While looking around, I took this picture....noticing all the circles in the air!  Were these ghost cirlces...known as orbs!  No ........

So I took another picture   and well....no orbs!  Now that was a bit scary.... and was glad when we were told it was time to go....

So down the stairs we went.....

We  went down this long, long hallway to a place where the temperature changed drastically!
We were told that they can't find out any reason for this...
Also told about a ghost that looks like Elvis has been seen in the area....

We were lead out into the alley....whew...now I knew why no one came out!  LOL....

The Crosskeys Tavern was our next stop on our journey.....There is a resident ghost..Harold...

Could we hope to see him???

Charming place....all seemed safe and pleasant...

I took a picture of our Spirit Guide but it just seemed blurry...tried several times ....

So went to the other side and tried again....

What are those Orbs over her??? Could that be the reason I couldn't get a clear picture?

She pointed us to a stair case after telling us about the Tavern.....this was a part of Crosskeys I had never seen.......

We came into this Red room!

                                        Wonderful scones on the wall....

Our Spirit Guide told of prostitution back in the early days..... This window looks out on Main Street...has a small balcony....

As we were leaving....was that something moving?????  LOL  No it was just me reflected in a mirror..... Harold did not make a sound....

We met Judy Harris Tanner who had a fascinating story of how she discovered her Indian heritage...
The ghost of the past still talk to us of today..... What a wonderful discovery and journey she has been on.......

Now we went to the Barrington Property.   I have always wondered about this house and it's story..

We were looking at the home and this spirit appeared and walked toward us...was this a ghost from the past or our Spirit Guide.... She was a vision....

The steps of this house were amazing......

She took us into another time as we stepped through the door......

Looking out the window...we could see we were still in our time.....

You can see the walls are made of brick...

The staircase from the 5th Street entrance....restoring it to it's original beauty.

Entry off 5th St.

                                   Beautiful floors.....

This is a very early picture of the house....

                                           The living room....

Todays view of the living room....

This bookcase was once a door into the conservatory....

                                                   The Chandelier was gorgeous!

                                        Looking up the staircase...

Now down into the basement.....

It was not like any basement I have ever seen...wonderful brick floors and divided into rooms...
Windows to the outside...to let light in....

Finally a hearth ....so we were told maybe the summer kitchen or this floor was for the servants that work there?????

We came up into the garden....

We were told of a murder that happened on the second floor and the murderer jumped off the balcony......sightings have been seen of him walking the porch....

Walking through the large Magnolia trees....

Magnolia seed pod......

the red seeds of the pod.....

When we arrived back out front, we ran into the Official Ghostbuster, Bart Henshaw!.....She was checking to make sure everything was going good....and it was...so far a great walk....

Creations Sew Clever was the next stop on our tour.....

We were greeted outside by a lovely Spirit Guide...

Inside our Spirit Guide and her son took us on the tour of the house...that once was a funeral parlor and of the strange things that go on....

One of the rooms that has a lot of activity

These very steep stairs lead to the third floor where the children's bedrooms were.

This Spirit Guide told of strange things that happened allot in this room....things being knocked over...messing up displays.....

Thought this was a interesting door...wonder what is behind it?

Our last stop....the Majestic Theater.....

Always a great place to see....

We were greeted by these Spirit Guides who told us of the flu epidemic and of "Blood Alley"...  The Majestic has a rich history of Masonic and great actors from the past who played here.
When we reached the balcony another Spirit Guide greeted us....

View from the balcony ...oh the fun times I remember of the theater....

As we climbed the stairs to the next floor...I could see the change...this was getting old...like going back in time.....

This Nurse Spirit Guide greeted us...She was so cute for a Spirit!

Our Spirit Guides gave us wonderful story of the Majestic...

The room where the Knights are is very interesting...You can see in the pictures the part that has be refurbished....The colors are so bright...It must have been beautiful in it's day.

View from the window...shows the hills in the background....

Original seats from the theater?

View from another window of the Majestic sign....

A look at the stairs we had climbed....the changes that happen....

Here the railing is painted different...the open door is the projection room.

One of the stain glass windows....

We now are going into the main floor of the theater.....

Our Spirit Guide  lead the way....

This was where I always sat when I was young.....the two seats by the pole!

Our Spirit Guide told about the  history of the theater and other neat stories....

Looking at this picture....the blur on the stage....was this the act of a ghost?  or
did I not hold the camera still?

We had a wonderful talk from the Ranger from Hopewell... We might be named a World Heritage Location....that would be a wonderful honor...We have the  most ancient earthworks in the world right here in Ross County!

As we were leaving ...we did see some painted windows.....

It would have been great if there had been more...maybe next year.....

Headed home after a very exciting day....

I am already looking forward to next year....Hope you enjoyed the tour.....
                                            Till next time.......
