Rainy day!

Wednesday was a rainy day....so we decided to head to Jackson and visit Guhl's ....It is a neat store that has a little bit of everything.  On the way home I saw the sign to Leo  Petroglyph.  My sister had never been there so I thought I would take her to a new place!

The drawings are under the covered shelter.

This is a fish

Several Bear paws...

This person.....
There were lots of Dirt Dabber homes......

Then we noticed all the Day Lilies blooming....so beautiful!

Across from the park..... some scenes of the Lilies....

We saw this juvenile Blue bird...(I think, if I am wrong please let me know)

This little guy was sing he heart out.  It was beautiful.  I think this one is a Savannah Sparrow.

After this little side trip, well I was not ready to head home.. We had left the rain behind in Jackson.....so I decided to head to Scioto Trails over to 23...from there we went to Charlie's Pond....

It was so peaceful.....

A beautiful field of wheat!

                                                    Arrowhead....

These are baby Barn Swallows.  They were lined up in a tree and their parents would fly in with food and drop in their open mouths...was so sweet....

                                                          Bee Balm....

                                                                Mexican Hat.....

                                                    Song Sparrow.....

                                                            Milkweed that the Monarchs enjoy!

Saw several butterflies fluttering around.

From Charlie's Pond, I went up 23 to 22 and over to Canal Rd.........

The Canal full and beautiful!  As we were driving along, we thought we spotted an Osprey!
Then we noticed that 2 nests had been set up.

This is where the quarry is....

Then the Osprey landed on this nest.....

Doesn't look like any babies....but looks good for next year!  Will keep you updated on that.

The pond looked nice.....

Saw several Hooded Mergansers...believe this one a juvenile....

Also Red-wing Blackbirds and a couple of Herons....
We got out of the car and walked a short way on the Tow Path......

The wildflowers were so pretty...Day Lilies everywhere....

An Eastern Kingbird, thought he was hiding from me.....

                                                       Ground Cherry....

Solomon Seal.....

This one was covered with June bugs....

So a rainy day turned out to be full of surprises and that is always fun....

I hope you enjoyed this little adventure....see you soon!
