A Sunny day!!!!

After all the dreary days we have had, today the sun is out and makes me feel so good.  I have been working on a spring wall hanging for the past month and finally finished it today.....

 I got the idea from some yellow Tulips I purchased and enjoyed so much......

So to help keep depression and winter blahs away....I started the quilt hanging....It helped and was thrilled that I finished it today and the sun came out so bright and warm looking.......

I put on my coat because it is still cold out....and decided to check my yard....a few weeks ago when we had a warm day I did a little yard work.....

It felt so good to be out and smell the dirt and feel the warmth of the sun...This is just a small area I got cleaned up and looks like spring here.....

This is what this area looked like last year.....Hoping it will be as pretty this year!!!!

My Hellebore is blooming....I guess I should have cut away the dead leaves...but I didn't want to take to much protection away just in case of a bad freeze.....

I did notice that it looks like I will have Daffodils blooming for Easter!!!!!

This one has lots of flower blooms on it.....

I walked on around the yard...planning my sections to clear, like this one!

The Lilies and Daffodils are trying to come through....My Primroses are having a problem coming up....to many leaves...

I believe this is Pulmonaria and looks like blooms are popping out.....I have had this plant for many years and it is always so pretty......

Then I noticed a bud coming thru the dirt in a flower pot......

This was the pot that I had planted my Cannas in.....I usually don't plant bulbs that have to be dug up and stored as I never get that part of gardening done....I put these in a flower pot knowing I wouldn't dig them up...So imagine my surprise when I saw this bud!!!!

The garden is just waking up...the Lilacs have big buds and my little yellow rose bush has buds too....

So Spring is on the way!!!!!   (if not almost here.... )

Get out and enjoy the sun and see if you can find any flowers coming up.....

Adventure of the Day.. Feb. 19, 2016

A very unusual February day....not snowing and not freezing cold...a bit windy but warm and partly sunny....My sister and I took off

 on a drive....It has been a while and after that week of snow we needed an outing...

I noticed that this year that Yoctangee Park is not getting the variety of migrant ducks it got last year...probably because of the mild winter...but I did get these pictures of the Swans...they never disappoint....

Then we tried to decide what and where to go....always a problem...so we decided to check out Charlie's Pond to see if the Sandhill Cranes were still hanging around.....We were not disappointed there either!

There they were out in the field hunting for food....Must have been about 30 at least!

Always one that checks to see if everything is ok....we figured he heard our car stop....but they were far enough away that they felt safe.

Then as we were about to leave, we were driving down the road and heard this noise!  We stopped and up in the sky ..........

Was so neat to see these hugh birds flying around over the field...I got a few good pictures....hope you enjoy them.....we drove back to the place where we could see them and....

There they were all standing together like it was planned to show us a sight!

Then while we were watching a Northern Harrier flew in with her lunch.....

So after such a great sighting we decided it was to windy to go hiking anywhere so we headed to Lancaster to a favorite antique shop....and I got this.

This vintage foot stool with birds done in needlepoint....very pretty...















So that was a nice drive and can't wait for more of this warm weather.....

End of 2015......

I know it has been a long time since I did an update...some of you know why and others might not...so to end the year 2015...I will bring you up to date on the year......

I have been having problems with my left hip for a while now...I went through the therapy, the injections (which helped for a while) and finally I got a hip replacement on Sept 28.  So I have not been out and about except for a few car rides.....This is what my hip looks like today!

I have this new equipment which took away all the pain I was having and plus the pain pills too!   It has been a slow process and each day is better than the last...during recovery I had the stomach virus and vertigo....but finally got to get rid of my cane and venture out!

Today is December 22, beginning of winter, and it is over 50 outside...I went for my first long walk to the park....wearing only jeans and a sweat shirt...felt just like spring!!!!

The first thing I see on my walk....

 Dandelions!!! Blooming in winter!
















Robins singing in the trees....thinking it is spring......

 And a Starling or two .......

Then my first view of the park...I can't remember the last time I walked down to the park...

I just stood and enjoyed the beauty of the Park for a while.....












 I am going to let you just look at the pictures and enjoy.......

Under a bush was some ducks still sleeping.....

    The single Swan...This man comes down and feeds the swans everyday...they know him and they came on the  double to see him...He can even touch the Swan.....

I spotted this lone Common Merganser swimming and diving in the lake.....

The beauty of the trees in the park caught my eye.......

All too  soon it was time for me to head home...didn't want to over due it on my first long outing.....

Saw Cardinals in the trees on the way home.....

                             Then I saw this Forsythia Bush blooming.......wow

Home again and my barrel of Snapdragons are really growing and have buds....

                                     My Chrysanthemum is greening up......

So I have brought you up to date on my year....I hope 2016 is better and I think it will be.....
