Heron Rookery....

Cold but sunny day....I had to get out and wanted to visit the Heron Rookeries before the trees leaves were fully out.   I picked up my Sister and off we went!

The first stop is on Three Mile Rd....There they were, getting their nests ready for their eggs.

I couldn't get any good close up pictures because of the over growth of trees and bushes along the road....but with binoculars I could see them....

A few more views of the Sycamore trees with the nests in them.....

Then we headed to another place we knew of near Paint Creek......As we were leaving we spotted something high up in a tree.....yes!!! An Eagle....

It is always exciting when we see an Eagle....
We decided to swing by the spot we knew was an Eagle nest to see how it was......

Sorry the picture isn't better...but there was the Eagle in her nest...high up in the Sycamore tree along the Scioto River.....

On to Paint Creek!

This Rookery is closer to the road and there is a place to stop for a few minutes to watch.....
While I was taking pictures, I looked down and saw Virginia Blue Bells blooming......

A sure sign that Spring is here.......

We then decided to visit Paint Creek and see how spring is happening in the park.......

Believe this is Prairie Dock....
Was so pretty in the woods......

This lovely flower is Marsh Marigold......

The dried grasses from last year look still beautiful among the pine trees at Paint Creek.....

I think this is Winter Cress.....There was a lot of it blooming...It is one of the first wildflowers to bloom in the spring....

A path to follow one day when it is warmer......

The Red Bud trees were blooming....

Not sure what this tree is, but the seed pods were so pretty on the tree.....

Not sure what this little white flower is...looks like a violet....

There was a big group of Cormorants on the lake.

An a small group of Bonaparte Gulls.......

This is a Ring-billed Gull......

It was a beautiful day!  No clouds in the sky!  But it was rather cold......but great for a drive.....

So on a day like that....shadows are seen...of large birds as they fly over and other things.....

So we headed home and got to spot our third Eagle of the day...on Route 50 before Bainbridge....was a great day to be out and about!!!!

Till next time....enjoy the day even if it is cold......
